** I personally didn’t like the Bell jar at all and thought I was rather boring. Sure, there were some parts that were good, but otherwise I didn’t like it and wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe because it was written almost 30 years ago and the way the author wrote it is different than the styles now could be why I was turned off. I didn’t like how the main character, Esther, was always jumping from this to that and constantly depressed. I don’t get how she can be living such a fabulous life and then hate everyone around her and think so critically of everyone else when she doesn’t even know them. I don’t think she is very open minded and has a vague view on life. I would recommend this book for people outside of high school.
