*** I really enjoyed this book. It did not really have the best beginning but as long as you just kept with it for a little while, it was really good. I never could have guess what would have happened in the end, but it was still good. If you like books about personal struggle, I believe you will like this book.

** This book starts off pretty good. It gets you interested because it’s really kind of different from other books. I think that the best part of this book is right in the middle but when you get to the end of the book I think it really just leaves you hanging. The rest of the book just keeps you reading because the relationship between John and Marisol as they start to become friends.

** This book was an okay book. But the beginning was really boring to me. It was not until the middle of the book when I got into it. I liked that it was a love story with a twist. Because a young man named John could not be with this girl named Marisol because she was a lesbian. They did a lot of things together and he leans a lot. I liked that the author put John with family problems. Because a lot of people can relate in some way.

**** I loved this book. Once someone gets reading they just can’t put it done. Hard Love isn’t the average love story. John meets his girl name Marisol and he grows feelings for her, but she doesn’t have feelings for him because she is a lesbian. Marisol and Brain are John’s only friends, but Brian gets a girlfriend. John is pretty average when it comes to his family. He parents are divorce she spends the weekends with his dad and the week with his mom. Things have been pretty different between John and his mom when since the divorce. When Brain meets Marisol she inspires him to write what he feels.

***This is really emotional story about all different kinds of love. John who is the main character loves to read and write zines which are a kind of homemade magazine. Through zines he meets Marisol, he quickly falls in love with her. There’s only one problem she is lesbian and while they are friends she doesn’t feel the same way about him. His parents are divorced and he is having troubles dealing with it. This book is full of twists and turns and defiantly worth your time. Throughout the book john learns an important life lesson and he learns to move on as well. I would recommend this book only if you have an open mind and are looking for something kind of sad.

*** Hard love by Ellen Wittlinger was a pretty good book. It's about this boy named John who is a Junior in High School. He loves to write and decides to make a zine, or a homemade magazine. Through this, he meets Marisol. She also writes zines. He ends up liking her, which is weird because he isn't really into girls. The problem is, she is lesbian. The rest of the book is about their friendship, his "friendship" with Brian, and the problems between his divorced parents. I recommend this book to read.
