He came up with that name because when he was in the stand, the lady said she couldn't even look at him because he looked like a monster. That is what the lady called him at the stand, a monster. I’ll let you read and find out if Steve is found guilty or not.
** I did not like reading “Monster” by Walter Dean Myers. This book was put in the form of a movie script, except the script had absolutely no action except the action of a courtroom. The story of Steve Harmon’s incident was good, which was a robbery ending with the death of a local clerk, but I think that it could have been put into better words. I would not recommend this book to a friend unless they are looking for a short and easy book to read.
