“Wicked” By Gregory Maguire is an absolutely amazing book. If you’re seen the musical based off of the book, you will never expect what’s coming. It’s almost completely different. The gist and some of the relationships of the characters are the same, but all and all, I could hardly recognize the play in the book. However, even though it’s not the same, the book was extremely good and I could hardly put it down. The differences between the characters Elphaba, Glinda, Boq, Fiyero, and Nessarose are so wide that it just makes everything seem so much more interesting. I highly suggest reading this book.

*****I absolutely loved Wicked. I wanted to read it because I loved the play so much. What ever you do, don’t read it thinking about the play, if you’ve seen it, it’s obviously different. The book makes it impossible to hate the Wicked Witch of the Witch, or Elphaba, because in the book you get to hear her whole story. There are a lot of random spots where I got lost in what they were saying, but hey it’s a new challenge. I suggest anybody that like the Wizard of Oz or the musical Wicked read this.

***** "Wicked" by Gregory MaGuire was one of the best books that I have ever read. The story of Elphaba was amazing and makes you really fall in love with the Wicked Witch of the West. You can tell that Elphaba wasn't really as wicked as she was made out to be. She became more of a normal person who had to go through some difficult hardships that had shaped her into what she became. Because the story makes you fall in love with the Witch, you learn that Dorothy isn't as innocent as she seems. Though she comes off as sweet and charming, through Elphaba's eyes, you see that she is more of an ignorant child who killed the Witch's sister. This book sheds a new light on to the Wicked Witch. You can see what she went through that made her into the person that was the Wicked Witch of the West.
