The amber spyglass.

****This was a good book in my opinion. It was a fast paced adventure about two kids, Lyra, and Will as they travel through different worlds and search for the truth about consciousness, god, and their place in it all. They discover Lyra’s father, lord Asirel’s world where he is building the republic of heaven, and play a big role in the war between angels, god, and humans. While it had a good plot to keep you interested in the book, it also had some underlying questions that made you think about your beliefs and loyalties. It makes you wonder what reasons you keep loyalties for and for what reasons you should break them. If you are loyal to a church that is doing things you don’t believe in, should you stay loyal? The characters were pretty believable and you get a good sense of their emotions. While I mostly read books for the plot, this book helped me appreciate some of the other elements of the book past its storyline and action. I would say it is one of the best books I have read.

**** I really enjoyed the third and final book in the His Dark Materials triology. The book revolves around Lyra and Will, from the previous novels, as they try to find the land of the dead. Also during this time, Lord Asriel is building the Republic of Heaven. Also, Mary Malone goes into the world of the mulefa, and builds and amber spyglass which allows her to see Dust. Overall, I enjoyed the plot of the book. Along with the first two books, I found this book difficult to put down. I also enjoyed the majority of the characters in this book. I did not like reading about the mulefa and Mary Malone in this book. I did not think that they served any importance to the plot of the book, and just seemed like a filler to make the book longer. Overall, this was my least favorite of the 3 books, though all of the books that make up this series are very good.
