The Lightning Thief
****
This is one of the most exciting books that I have read in a while. This story is about a dyslexic boy named Percy. Percy lives with his Mother and his stepfather. At the beginning of the story Percy is on a school field trip to a Greek museum. As Percy gets separated from the group he has a run in with a monster; his teacher Mrs. Dobbs. Percy’s other teacher then throws him a pen which turns into a sword, that Percy slays Mrs. Dobbs with. This is the first indication that Percy’s life is going to change forever. His mom then takes him to a cabin for a small vacation too get his mind off being expelled from another school. While they are there Percy ask his mom who his real dad is, but she gives him no answer. Later in the night a storm brews up and a kid named Grover shows up. They then need to get Percy to a special summer camp where he would be safe from danger. When they get near the camp Percy has to witnesses his mother’s death. When he is at the camp he learns out a lot about his life. Percy then finds out that he is a Demigod or “Half-Blood.” This means that he is half mortal and half immortal or that he has one human parent and one parent that is a God. Percy later finds out that his father is one of “The Big Three Gods.” Percy is given a prophecy by the Oracle and he is accompanied by his two friends, Annebeth and Grover. Percy’s prophecy was very confusing to him and he didn’t really know what to do. The main part of the prophecy was that he was to go out and retrieve Zeus’s lightning bolt that had been stolen from Olympus. He would go through a lot to complete his task. During the course of the book Percy needs to think a lot and when he was thinking aloud that made me think a lot too. I found this book to be very intense and at times to be very action packed. It was one on those books to me that if you started reading it that you would not want to put it down because you wanted to know what was next. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure books.

The Lightning Thief is one of the best books I have read yet this year. It tells the story of a middle school boy named Percy who has to transfer schools year after year. After getting expelled from Yancy Academy Percy takes a trip with his mother (his father was supposeably lost on an expedition over seas)and then finds out that he isnt an average kid. He is a "half blood" which means he is part mortal and part immortal (he's part god). Percy ends up having to go to a camp designed for "half bloods" or "Demigods". It is there that he finds out his fathers true identity and Percy accepts a quest to find Zeus's stolen lightning bolt. On his quest he has to overcome many obstacles and try not to be killed by Hades minions. This is an action packed book that is hard to stop reading.

The Lightening Thief was an overall thrilling tale about a boy who always seems to be in trouble. He finds out why his quirky traits that attribute to his seemingly troubled behavior, actually isn’t his fault at all. He finds that his dyslexia is actually very useful; his ADD could potentially save his life and the lives around him; and most important Percy, the main character, finds that he isn’t the only one whose life is this way and his bad luck isn’t a coincidence. I really liked how throughout the whole story you learn about Greek “mythology” and learn about the Gods and their stories. This book hardly ever has a dull moment and moves from each point of action to the next while still captivating the reader with mysteries and beytrals that appear throughout the story but only make sense in the end. I really liked how the prophecy shaped the whole story and that the good guys won but had to really work for it. I can’t wait to read the next book of this series!

**** The Lightning Thief is the best book that I’ve read yet. It’s about a dyslexic boy named Percy Jackson, who secretly is the son of the god Poseidon. And after his mom gets crushed by a minotaur while taking Percy to camp half blood, Percy finds out that this camp is for every child that is a son to a god. They are called half bloods or demi-gods. And after Percy stays there awhile and finds out that he is the son of Poseidon, he gets sent on a quest to find Zeus’s stolen Lightning bolt, and along the way, finds out stuff about his dad, and his friends Annabeth, and Grover use there talents to help Percy on his quest. And At the end of the book is the best, and I can’t blow the ending, I recommend reading this book for all who like adventures. This is a great book.

**** The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is about a boy, named Percy, who is a half-blood. A half-blood is half god and half human, and Percy is the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. Percy is in great danger when he is forced to run to a summer camp… “Camp Half-blood”. He must learn to fight off all the terrible monsters that are chasing him, or he will share the same fate as his mother.

I think this book was one of the best I’ve read from this unit. It seems a little long, but once I started I couldn’t put it down. I plan on reading the other books in the series outside of class.

**** The Lighting Thief is about a boy named Percy Jackson and his adventures. Percy is the son of Poseidon the God of the Sea. Since Percy is a child of a God this makes him a half blood (half human, half god.) Half bloods have a special camp that they go to for safety which is called camp half blood. Once Percy gets there he finds out that someone has stolen Zeus’s lighting bolt. The camp sends Percy and his friends Annabeth and Grover to find it. The rest of the book is about the quest Percy and his friends go on.

****The Lightning Thief is a very good book that is full of suspense and will keep you wanting to read more. It is about a boy named Percy who has ADHD and dyslexia. He constantly gets kicked out of schools and when he starts getting attacked by monsters, he realizes something isn’t right. His mom takes him to Camp-Half Blood so that he will be safe but along the way she is taken. While Percy is there he makes some new friends and finds out what the world is really like. The gods are alive and Zeus’s lightning bolt has been stolen. He also finally finds out who his father is. Now he has to go on a quest to take back the bolt and help his dad, save his mom and show that he is a true hero.

** The Lightning Thief is an alright book. It tells a story about a boy named Percy Jackson, and how he is a troubled kid in school. Then he finds out that he is half god and that his dad is a god. Then his mom takes him to a camp for kids like him, “Half Bloods”, and their he figures out his dad is one of the three main gods. The camp counselor then tells him to take a quest to find a missing lightning bolt of a god. On his way he has to fight many monsters and try not to get killed. I didn’t like how many new names and what they were, like monsters, half bloods, or gods, that you have to keep track of. It was kind of boring I thought to.

**The Lightning Thief is about a “demigod” (half human half god) who grows up not knowing that he is. He goes through his younger years moving from school to school because he keeps on getting kicked out. He lives with his mother and stepfather because Percy (The Demigod) has not seen his father for his whole life. Later in the school year he finds out that his father is apart of the Big Three. Which refers to the top three Gods. He is sent to an all Demigod school and is assigned a quest. The quest is going out and retrieving Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt. The book is all about his quest from there on out.
I didn’t really like this book basically because I couldn’t get into it. It drug on and on and on sometimes too. It just wasn’t what I expected that’s all.

**The lightning thief is about a demigod, who is half human and half god. He hasn’t known his father but then finds out that his father is a god, Poseidon. When he is on a field trip early in the book he gets lost from his class and hallucinates a whole world. Or so he thought. He is part of a god and he has to go on a quest and retrieve Zeus’s stolen lighting bolt. After that that is all the book is about. It gets kind of boring in my opinion because the quest drags on. There are points where I just wanted to quit reading but don’t let my opinion discourage you from reading it because other people said it was one of the best books they have read.

The Lightning Thief is a top notch book. It’s about a boy named Percy Jackson, Percy is the son of Poseidon, god of the sea and part of the big three gods, along with Zeus and Hades. Percy learns that his mother and Poseidon had him, which makes him a half-blood. The only way to keep Percy safe is to go to Camp Half-Blood, where he meets a girl named Annabeth. Percy, his friend Grover and Annabeth hare selected to go on a quest to find Zeus’s lighting bolt, which apparently was stolen. You will just have to read the Lightning Thief to find out if they are successful in finding the Lightning Bolt and the Lightning Thief!
