**** The Subtle Knife is a sequel to The Golden Compass. I really enjoyed The Golden Compass, and enjoyed this book just as much. The story follows Will Parry and Lyra Belacqua. They are both from two different worlds, and they both find a window into a third world where they meet, a city called Cittagazze. In this world, there is an object called the Subtle Knife that can cut through any object in the world. The knife can also cut a window which allows for the person to go into different worlds. Both Will and Lyra eventually obtain the knife and use it to travel between different worlds. Although the book can get confusing, I really enjoyed it. I really liked the overall plot of the book. I found that this book was very hard to stop reading once you started. I also really enjoyed all of the characters featured in this book. My only complaint is that I wish there was more of Mrs. Coulter, who is my favorite character in the series. If you enjoyed The Golden Compass, I highly recommend that you read this book.
