*** How I Live Now, is an emotional rollercoaster as the protagonist, Daisy, lives with her ‘new’ family in England. They get separated when disputes breaks out during the war. I think it was WWII but it only talked about WWII in past tense. The story touches on a few controversial ideas and sheds a different light on them by accepting, or looking past them in times of war. I liked that this book had many themes, for example: struggle, survival, love, loss, and conflict. I also liked that the book explained what happens 6 years after everything. The only down side is that some of the sentence structure in the book ran on a bit, so it made it feel like it was dragging sometimes. I would recommend this book to people who like the War and injustices unit, but don’t like the political parts of it as much because it shows the social stand point.
** How I Live Now, is a really weird book. It is a story about a young girl who travels to England to visit some of her family memebers. Over time she becomes very connected to one of her family members. During her stay in England a war breaks out and she must fight against hunger to stay alive. Overall the whole book is kind of boring and unusual. I think that anyone who likes books about family and love would like it.
