I thought the book "Crank" by Ellen Hopkins was a great story, and it shows you what life is like when it is taken over by Crystal Meth, also known as Crank. The story starts out with a girl, Kristina, leaving her home in Nevada going to New Mexico to spend time with her dad. While she is there she meets a boy named Adam, who calls himself Buddy, and he introduces her to the drug. Kristina's dad doesn't care and even does a few lines with her and Adam. The rest of the story is about how challenging it is to stay off "The Monster," and also about a lot of boyfriend issues that she has with a few other guys. She has trouble finding out who she really is - she calls herself Bree when she is on Crank, and she doesn't respect herself as much. Brendan, Chase, and Adam cause her to stress out a lot too, and it makes her addiction worse. Two really big problems come up at the end of the book, and that's why I recommend everyone to read this book - it is really good.
It also gives a perspective on the life of somebody who is on Crank, and that's interesting to read about sometimes.

This was probably the best book ive read this year so far. Not only does it take you in depth of a troubled teen, it gives the reader many ways to relate. Its about a girl named Kristina that is looked at as a perfect daughter in her mom and step dads eyes, until one summer when she goes to visit her dad. Her life takes a sudden turn for the worst. Kristina gets into trouble with the "monster" aka Crystal Meth. The book takes you through the struggles she goes through with not only her family and friends, but school and herself.

i would give this book 4 stars. i loved it, and you recommend it to anyone.

**** Crank BY Ellen Hopkins

Crank is a good book. It is about a girl names Kristina who goes to visit her dad in Arizona and meets this boy named Adam. He is the one that introduces her to Crystal Meth. Otherwise known as "Crank" and she feel in love with him. He was her first true love. Once she got back he told her that he still loved her but they should see other people but he still wanted to talk with her and write letters. She gets mad and that is the whole start to bree. Her other half... She has a multiple personality and Bree is this crazy girl who knows what to say around guys and Kristina is this shy girl. Bree gets the best of her and she gets into trouble with some guys. Something happens at the end and leaves it open for more to come. I'll let you read and find out.

P.S. If you read this there is another book Glass that is a very good book i read that one too.

**I thought that the book Crank was a pretty good book. What I liked about this book is that you get to see what some kids go through with drugs. In this case Kristina, the main character becomes addicted to Crystal Meth. I like this because you also see how the drug takes over you and become addicted the first time you try it. I thought that the story was pretty boreing compared to other books by this author. I like how the author of her books like this one uses kids around my age so that people can relate and see what people go through. In the story she gets a personality disorder and is just a troubled. I would recommend this book to my friends, but would recommend other books before this one.

Before I started this class, I heard a lot about Ellen Hopkins and her books. The first one of hers I read was Crank. It was a story about a girl who over a few weeks of first trying it; found that she was addicted to meth. She struggles with a lot of different things through out and is something you can’t put down. It takes awhile to get used to her style of writing but it’s worth it in the end. I really liked how the book itself was written. Ellen has a way of writing that is almost like poetry and if you take the time to read the different parts you can see how talented she really is. I would recommend this book to anyone,

*** This book was fun to read and was pretty interesting. It was also a good way to show people what could happen to them just from trying certain drugs, and how it can change your life completely and most likely not for the best. I thought it was really sad when I found out that this book was based off her daughter’s life. I really hope that the second book ends really well. But I did like this book and would recommend it to just about anyone.

*** I really liked this book a lot. I think it went in to details bout how your life can we when you’re doing drugs. There are a lot of people that can relate to this book and how there lives may or may not be the same as hers. Her family thinks that she is this perfect girl until she goes to visit her dad and then she’s not so perfect any more. She really gets turned around when she moves there. I would really recommend this book to anyone. It was a really great book.

Crank by Ellen Hopkins is a very good book! This book is about a girl who goes to visit her dad in New Mexico over summer break, and ends up addicted to crystal meth. Her whole life changes after the trip to her dad’s house. I like how the author takes people’s real life stories and creates books, crank was about her daughter and her struggle with the monster. I really enjoyed this book; it was very easy to read, and I finished it in about two days. I would recommend this book to everyone!

**** This was a great book. It is about a girl named Kristina that starts to do meth. Kristina’s life starts to go on a downward spiral as she continues to struggle to quit the drug. I thought it was interesting to have the main character to be a good student and the perfect daughter before she started drugs. It showed how drugs could turn someone’s life upside down. I found it interesting to read about what goes on in the mind of someone that is addicted to drugs, and to find out what a struggle it is to stop taking that drug. I also liked the idea of Kristina taking on her other personality of Bree while she was on drugs. It seemed to get the point further across that someone’s personality could change while they are on drugs. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this book, but I really liked it and am glad I read it. I highly recommend this book. It was one of my favorite books that I read all year. Also, if you liked this book, I would also highly recommend to read the sequel, Glass.

*** Crank is a story of a follower. A follower named Kristina. However when under the influence of the monster her second personality, Bri, takes over. It is another story where the girl falls in love and wants to fit in with her new boyfriend. Even though she devotes herself to one person she is let down. In which afterward the monster is no longer the problem. She has become the monster. If you are one of the people that want a happy ending this probably isn’t the book for you.

The book I read was “Crank” by Ellen Hopkins. This is a great book and it will keep you reading until the end. This story tells about a young girl name Kristina that gets caught up in the drug world. Kristina struggles to find out who she is. She has two sides to her personality. Kristina is the nice straight A student and Bree is the brave girl who is willing to do anything. Kristina is sent to her dad’s house for 3 weeks and there she discovers the world of drugs. She starts to do meth and falls in love with a boy. Throughout the story Kristina shares how Meth otherwise known as “Crank” changes her world in a short amount of time. She struggles with relationships with guys and trying things for the first time. Bree/Kristina goes in a downward spiral into the scary world of drugs. This story is definitely a grabber and is a good book for any reader.

I thought Crank by Ellen Hopkins is a great book. It should be a required book in high schools. Crank starts out with Kristina, a perfect, well behaved child, going to visit her father in New Mexico. She meets Adam her first true love, and he completely turns her world around. He introduces her to Crystal Meth or “Crank”, and she ends up a total addict. When she finds Meth, she also finds Bree, a crazy out of control alternate personality. She finds herself at a dead when she gets home because she wants Meth, but has no clue where to get it. Her journey to find it screws up her live even more when she meets some not so nice people. This book actually scared at some points because of the way she goes from straight A student and perfect daughter to Meth addict so quick. It’s hard to believe that it’s a true story.

***** I thought Crank was a great book!
The book was about a girl and her battle with crystal meth and the girl Bre inside of her who is always craving. Kristina knows its bad but she can’t stop. By the time she gets pregnant she gets mostly clean. But when young hunter is born she has other thoughts than just talking care of her new child. I thought the book was awesome and would recommend it to everyone. I really liked how it kept me interested and then ending kept me thinking and wanting more.

I think the book was really good. It is about this good girl who goes and visits her dad. During the visit she gets mixed up with the wrong kind of people. She trys crank and it only took her one time to get hooked. This is a story about how all it takes is one time to get hooked, and how you have to be careful because one minute you have everything going with you and the next you just don't care. I recommend this book for everyone because it is interesting and teaches about the horror of drugs.

****Crank by Ellen Hopkins. This was a great book. It was about a girl named Kristina who gets addicted to Crystal Meth. I liked it because you get to see what teenagers go through with drugs. She started doing drugs when she went to go visit her dad. She tried it one time and got addicted. Her dad also does drugs. Kristina has two personalities one is when she is a great straight A student and then Bree who is a girl who will do anything. This was a great book and I would recommend reading it.

**** This is the first book that is about Kristina /Bree. The book Crank is about a girl named Kristina who meets a dude that gets her into doing meth. Her father does nothing about it, that’s because he is also a druggie. She calls herself Bree when she is around the dude who becomes her boyfriend. This book was good but what ever you do, read this book before Glass, if you don’t it will confuse you a lot. But anyway, this book is about he getting into meth, and she meets a guy who latter rapes her, then that is the baby that she has in book number two: Glass which I think you should really read.

I loved Crank. I read Crank at the begining of the year and decided to read it again for Young Adult Lit. Ellen Hopkins tells the story of a very average girl going to visit her astranged father. During her visit she gets into drugs and creates this alter ego who is absolutely nothing like her. When she returns home she continues to use Crystal Meth. This book portrays how using a drug, even just once, can take you down a downward spiral like it does for Kristina.
