**** If I Should Die Before I Wake by Han Nolan is a fantastic book. It is about a girl named Hilary, and she is in a Jew hating Hitler worshiping cult. She beats, threatens, and hates Jewish people, until she gets into a life threatening motorcycle accident. While she is in a coma she is able to see into Chana's life, who is Jewish. Through the book she realizes things she would not have with out getting into that accident. This book is excellent and I highly recommend it!

After Hilary Burke is injured in a motorcyle accident with her Neo-Nazi boyfriend Brad, she goes into a coma and has a long dream for three days, waking up from it periodically. Inside her dream though, her life as Chana lasts for about four or five years - at Auchwitz Concentration Camp in Poland. During this time she is forced to go through loss of family, pain, suffering, and hunger. If this really turns out to be a dream, can Hilary learn something from the life she went through? Or is Chana a real person? Can Chana (or Hilary) survive from this? And can Simon, a nice Jewish boy, be saved? I had a great time getting all these answers reading the book, and that's why I liked it a lot. I obviously think everyone should read it because you learn a lot about the Holocaust and life.

This book is written in a very interesting way. First there is Hilary, a Neo-Nazi Jew hating teenager who is in an accident, and slips in and out of a coma. While in her coma she meets Chana, or more than less becomes Chana. She is a Jewish girl who goes through the struggles of death, concentration camp, and illness. Will Hilary learn from this coma, or will she not make it? And better yet, is Chana real or just a dream? Read this book and find out. It is fantastic, and I loved it.

I really like how Hilary, a Jew hater, is injured in a motorcycle accident and she is in a coma, when she starts to relive someone else’s life. But this person is not just anyone, but a Jew her self. Chana, the girl who Hilary lives as, is sent to a working camp and has to do different jobs and struggles through life every day. If Hilary wasn’t in this motorcycle accident, she wouldn’t have ever changed her ways into not hating the Jews. At the beginning I didn’t understand how anyone could act that way towards another human being. And I’m glad that through the story Hilary changed her views on the Jews. This book was really good and I would highly recommend it.
If I Die before I Wake was a compelling story about a pro-Nazi youth who steps into the shoes of Chana, a Jewish girl who is ripped from her home, her family, and her life and is thrown from one nightmare to the next during the Holocaust. During a freak accident, Hilary is isolated in a Jewish hospital where she sees thru the eyes of a Jew and the horror of the concentration camp. I thought the book was exceptionally well-written, although was a bit confusing. The author really helped describe the feelings and emotions that came along with these appalling times, and how people are changed (for better or worse) and that nothing in the world would ever be the same after these terrifying events. I really liked how the author made sure that we passed on the stories of these people and how if we forget them, it may happen again.

Chana had witnessed her father’s death and was separated from her whole family. She ends up in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp where she is forced to do manual labor. Through the eyes of Chana, Hilary learns that neither a person’s religion, nor ethnic background should define them and they should not be hated for either. I would recommend this quick read to anyone!
