The Contender wasn’t that great of a book. It was sometimes hard to understand when it jumped from here to there. Overall the main idea of the book ended up being about drug addiction and trying to overcome it. The boxing theme of the book sort of faded out during the end. The book also didn’t give the greatest introduction to all of the characters. Some of them just kind of moved into the story and weren’t described at all. Overall I would rate this book a 1.
This book was kind of good I thought, but it really didn’t talk about his friend with the addiction. I would rate this book a 7 out of 10. The boxing part of it was okay but he only had three fights in the book. People like reading about boxers who make it to be champions.
