Sucker Punch by David Hernandez is about a guy named Marcus, who has an abusive dad. His dad doesn’t beat Marcus, instead he beats his somewhat cocky and head strong. On a normal day, Marcus and Enrique’s dad left in his black Corvette leaving only a note. About a year later they here from him and decide to confront the man that beat Enrique on a regular basis.
I loved this book because it talks about how hard it is having an abusive father. Aside from the main story line there are also other side obstacles that Marcus must over come. This is a book that is filled with drama and really relates to teens and there problems
****I read the book Sucker Punch by David Hernandez, and it’s about a Mexican American family who has an abusive father. It is told in first person by the oldest brother Marcus, but the father doesn’t beat Marcus he beats his Cocky younger brother Enrique (I think he does this because the father sees himself in him), Enrique gets his first beating at age 9. After their father has been gone for over a year the boy’s friends Oliver’s’ dad hangs him self, and they are all faced with grieving over the losses of there fathers. The Boy’s end up going on a cross state adventure and this book is full of drugs, parties, and mischief. I would say this is a really good book but is a little confusing at times per say when he flash backs or is talking about past time.

After years of getting beat up by his dad, Enrique finally snaps and fights him. When it was all over, their dad was gone the next day. We wrote a letter saying he won’t be coming back. So Enrique and Marcus tell their mom their going to Las Vegas but actually going to find their dad. They bring along a buddy named Oliver, whose dad just committed suicide to tag along. Will they be able to find their dad and confront him or will they be led on a wild goose chase?
*** Sucker Punch is a good book. It’s about two brothers named Marcus and Enrique. Enrique gets beat by his father. Enrique girlfriend is named Ashley and Marcus girlfriend is named Beth. Enrique meats Ashley in Biology class, while Marcus meats Beth at a party. This book is full of twist and turns that’s why I would recommend it.
